a Roads2.Com travel tour is for you.
The founders of Roads2.Com worked and traveled throughout
the world for over 30 years. And during that
time, they were involved with infrastructure projects in many
industries. Beyond their varied professional experiences
was the broad exposure, understanding and appreciation of many
cultures, each with its own unique contrasts and
beauty. The 'vision' of Roads2.Com is to share their
experiences and lifelong memories
with a 'boutique-style' of travel.
There are two scheduled Roads2Myanmar tours at this
time. Tour 1 is the Roads2.Com
'kite' tour including golden mysteries, ancient temples and unique
Burmese cultures of Yangon, Mandalay, Bagan and Inle
Lake. Tour 2 is a 2-country tour that begins
in Thailand first exploring Bangkok and then
onto Yangon and Mandalay.
Each tour is
a 'small group' of
only 8 tour travelers. Included is international 'airfare' with departure and
transit airport 'lounge privileges', hotel accommodations with 'breakfast', ground transportation,
one 'hosted dinner' surrounded by 'Myanmar
cultures', and 'entrance fees' to all scheduled tour
sights. Assistance in arranging Roads2.Com's daily 'free-style free-time' to explore
non-scheduled tour sights is provided.
Each Roads2.Com tour is
managed by a local in-country
manager. All licensed, native speaking tour
guides are fluent in English.
Additionally, a Custom
tour can be arranged for a special family occasion or a
group of friends.
About Myanmar - Land
of Pagodas - Land of Ancient
Culture.....
Myanmar is the
largest country in the SE Asia Peninsula sharing borders with Bangladesh, India,
China, Laos and Thailand. Lying between the two great civilizations of
India and China, it is has developed its own distinctive culture. More
than 80% of the people embrace Theravada Buddhism and this has a great influence
on the daily lives of the Myanmar people. They have preserved the
traditions of close family ties, respect for elders and simple native
dress. While tolerance and contentment are the characteristics of the
people, Myanmar hospitality is legendary.
Myanmar is a union of over 100 nationalities
with their own languages and dialects. The major races are the
Bamar, Chin, Kachin, Shan, Kayah, Kayin, Mon and the Rakhine. The
population of Myanmar is over 54 million with 70% of the population the
Bamar. The official language is Myanmar. English is widely
spoken and understood.
Myanmar is a fertile land and rich in
natural resources. Over 50% of the land area is covered with
forests. It is renowned for rubies, sapphires, jade and pearls.
Myanmar was annexed by the British, and became a sovereign independent
state in 1948.
The commerical center and main gateway
to Myanmar is Yangon. The name Yangon means 'End of Strife', and the
city has a unique charm with its old colonial buildings, tree-lines streets,
bustling local markets and tranquil lakes. Over 5 million people make
Yangon their home. Also found are the famous golden sights
are the Shwedagon Pagoda, Sule Pagoda, Botataung Pagoda, Chauk Htat
Gyi Pagoda and the classy Karaweik restaurant in the form of a huge Myanmar
mythical bird, standing in the Kandawgyi Lake.
Mandalay is the old
capital of the third Myanmar Empire with its conservative tradition and
culture. It is the second largest city situated 600 kilometers north
of Yangon. It is in Mandalay that one finds the magnificent view of
the city from Mandalay Hill, U Bein Bridge, the Atumashi Monastery and the
world's largest book, Kuthodaw.
Bagan is one of the richest
archaeological sites in Asia. This 42 square kilometer area
contains over 2,000 well-preserved pagoda and temples of the 11th-13th
centuries. Some of the most famous are the Shwezigon Pagoda, Ananda
Temple, and the Gawdawpalin Temple. Myanmar traditional
lacquerware emerge in the early part of the Bagan period. Just a few
hours drive from Bagan is Mt. Popa popularly recognized as an abode where all
sorts of mythological gods live.
Inle Lake is a hughe lake 22 kilometers long and 10
kilometers across located in the Shan State over 900 meters above
sea-level. The strangest thing about Inle is native lake-dwellers living
on 'floating islands'. This area has a population of some 150,000 people
living in 200 villages. Inle Lake, natural and unpolluted is famous for
its scenic beauty and the unique 'leg-rowing' on the native
fishermen. Myanmar is a
country of incredible ethnic diversity. It can be a journey not seen
in other parts of Asia.
Myanmar is truly a Land of Pagodas
and a Land of Ancient Cultures.
